Hidden Kitchen Storage: Cabinet Features to Specify Before Ordering

Plan storage around what the kitchen must hold

Start with everyday items: cookware, dry goods, utensils, waste bins and small appliances. List their approximate sizes and the users who need access. A tall pantry, a deep drawer and a corner accessory solve different problems. Choosing an accessory from a photograph before checking usable internal space can lead to a cabinet that looks suitable but does not fit the intended contents.

Check the cabinet and hardware as one system

Confirm clear opening width, internal depth, drawer height, hinge movement and any door interference. Ask for the hardware model, load information and the cabinet dimensions it requires. For corner storage, check the access opening and movement path. Appliance housings also need the appliance manufacturer’s dimensions and ventilation requirements; a flush appearance must not override those requirements.

Make the order easy to verify

Mark each storage feature on the cabinet schedule and approved drawings. State the number of shelves, drawers, pull-outs and bins, and identify which items are included in the supply. Request samples of key hardware where practical. Before dispatch, ask for photographs of the relevant configuration and labels linking each accessory carton to its cabinet number.
